Supporting the Needs of Healthcare
We understand the challenges maintaining fire life safety compliance in the healthcare environment, and we can be your strategic partner in providing sustainable solutions that ensure long term compliance. Effective firestopping is crucial to defend in place patients who cannot physically leave a facility in case of an emergency, buying first responders and emergency response teams the time needed to safely evacuate non ambulatory patients. STI’s dedicated team of Healthcare experts backed by a full catalog of firestopping solutions continuously improved upon for over 35 years are here to support you.
Solutions Designed for the Low Voltage Pathway
Cable moves, adds, and changes (MACs) are commonplace in healthcare as new monitoring systems and technologies are deployed to support patient care and well being. Non-hardening putties and cable sleeves have traditionally been used to support cable penetrations, however, often when putty is removed to conduct cable work it may not always be replaced leaving previously compliant penetrations as non-compliant. Unlike traditional cable sleeve and putty solutions, EZ-Path fire-rated pathways are tested for 0-100% cable fill, EZ-Path Pathways cannot be overwhelmed with cabling making them code compliant 100% of the time once installed.
- EZ-Path Fire-rated Pathways self sealing mechanism adjusts automatically as cables are added, changed, or removed while maintaining Fire, Smoke, and Acoustical Ratings
- EZ-Path Smoke and Acoustical Pathways partner with our fire-rated pathways providing consistent performance without sacrificing Leakage and Acoustical Ratings
- EZ-Path Retrofit Devices bring deficient openings back into code compliance quickly, retrofitting cable sleeves, stubs, and cable trays of up to 100% visual fill restoring fire performance

Joint Solutions for Fire-rated Walls and Smoke Partitions
SpecSeal® AS200 Elastomeric Spray and SpecSeal® LC Sealant are the ideal combination for addressing construction joints in fire-rated construction. Our fire-rated joint solutions have been rigorously tested to the exacting criteria of ASTM E1966 (UL2079) and CAN/ULC-S115 for fire resistance as well as ASTM E90 for sound attenuation, helping you meet building codes and occupant comfort requirements.
SpecSeal® Smoke ‘N’ Sound Sealant and Spray are formulated and tested to provide reliable smoke and acoustical protection for joints and voids in non-fire-rated smoke partitions. When used together, SpecSeal® Smoke ‘N’ Sound Sealant and Spray partner with SpecSeal® AS200 Spray and SpecSeal® LC Sealant to provide continuity of smoke and acoustical protection across your facility.
Solutions for Mechanical Penetrations
SpecSeal SSS and LCI Sealants are tested with rectangular, round, and oval ductwork in wall and floor assemblies, easily working into tight spaces such as between ducts and within AC Linesets forming a robust seal against the passage of fire, smoke, and sound. Additionally, both SSS and LCI have extensive testing with vented PVC condensate piping as well as AB/PVC, Fiberglass, Mineral fiber, Cellular Glass, Polyisocyanurate, and Polyethylene pipe and duct insulations.
FyreFlange HVAC Firestop Gasket is a thin profile intumescent gasket that partners with standard 20 GA (or heavier) steel angle to reinforce and seal rectangular duct work penetrations. FyreFlange replaces traditional firestop sealant making inspection of large rectangular ducts a single step, streamling the installation and inspection process on site.

Solutions for Electrical Penetrations
SpecSeal® Putty Pads are non-hardening putty used to seal around metallic and non-metallic electrical boxes in new construction to restore fire performance and acoustical resistance ratings in fire-rated walls without opening wall cavities
E-Wrap™ Endothermic Wrap is the ideal solution for protecting panel boxes and critical infrastructure such as back up power circuits, fire pumps controls, liquid fuel lines, and signaling circuits. E-Wrap's highly endothermic properties require fewer layers for equivalent protection compared to competing solutions. Requiring less material, less time to install, less physical space, and less reinforcement of protected pathways and infrastructure.
Solutions for the Plumbing Penetrations
SpecSeal LCC Firestop Collars are factory-manufactured firestop devices sized to plastic pipes of up to 4 in. Trade Size. LCC Collars consist of a restraining collar with a factory applied intumescent ensuring the correct amount of material is applied every time. SpecSeal RTC Firestop Collars partner with LCC Collars as an out of the box solution for 3 in. and 4 in. PVC Pipe couplings. Simplify the process of firestopping combustible piping by taking the guess work out of estimation with SpecSeal LCC & RTC Firestop Collars.
SpecSeal® Intumescent Sleeve is a factory manufactured device designed to protect metallic and plastic pipes penetrating through fire rated floors. Utilizing a flexible steel sleeve body and molded intumescent lining, the SpecSeal® Intumescent Sleeve wraps around pipes ranging from 2 in. to 4 in.
SpecSeal Wrap Strips a thin profile highly expansive intumescent strip available in a variety of sizes and types to tackle any combustible penetration. SpecSeal Wrap strips can be used on their own for small diameter plastic pipes or in conjunction with restraining steel for plastic pipes up to 18 in. diameter. Wrap Strips are an excellent solution for contractors addressing a large range of plastic pipe types and sizes on a project.

Life Safety, it’s critical in Healthcare Facilities
Your Partner in Healthcare. We understand the challenges you face in the healthcare physical environment and we can be your strategic partner in providing cost effective, sustainable solutions.Firestopping is crucial for hospitals because of the “defend-in-place” strategy, which is used to protect patients who cannot physically leave a facility in case of an emergency.

Comprehensive Barrier Management Planning
Barrier management entails identifying all types of fire rated assemblies including the types of penetrations, and the activities that cause them to become breached. The goal of the Barrier Management Program is to prepare and mitigate possible issues through detection and suppression of potential future loss from fire. The program does this by setting expectations for all parties involved including vendors, contractors, and facility maintenance personnel to maintain a specific set of Firestop Systems for installation and inspection of assemblies to have a better understanding when situations of non-compliance might arise.

Firestop Design and Collaboration in Revit
Firestop Clash Management® (FCM) is our Autodesk® Revit® Plugin that takes the guess work out of firestop solution design and selection. Utilizing clash detection and model parameter data, FCM scans your model detecting locations where construction joints and penetrations occur and recommends appropriate firestop systems at these locations. Additionally, FCM places marker and product objects within the model ensuring that system selection are present within the model and accessible to project team members.
- Automates system selection and placement within the mode
- Functions at your workstation, no need to manually export to third party systems/services
- Act as consultants to coordinate all aspects of firestop selection throughout the design and construction process
- Provide support by working on-site with your design team
- Deliver in-depth training
- Offer oversight in the field to ensure proper installation of firestop materials
Moving, adding, or changing any cables (MACs) when firestopping is commonplace in healthcare. Fortunately, there are firestop products, such as non-hardening putties, designed to work alongside MACs. However, often when putty is removed it may not always be replaced. Additionally, cables may have gradually been added to existing sleeves to the point where firestop materials are displaced, causing an unsafe situation.
The STI Barrier Management Program was created by leading healthcare professionals with diverse backgrounds and a wealth of industry experience. We have invested heavily to assure our SOP is 100% relevant for development of firestop specification documents for all types of healthcare facilities. This specification accompanies every bid document so that contractors understand, well in advance, the standards by which your organization operates and how they will be held accountable for their work.
