Firestop Solutions For Data Center

The Data Center environment represents a unique challenge compared to other occupancy types. Beyond life safety, physical security, containment of conditioned air, and increased electrical and low voltage pathway infrastructure further complicate building design. Firestop solutions in the Data Center need to do more than meet just meet local codes, flexible solutions that support day to day Data Center Operations, deploy quickly, and don't get in the way of on-site staff are paramount to a successful protection scheme. STI offers a full line of firestopping solutions that compliment your Data Center design, exceeding code requirements and take into account the realities of Data Center Operations.

Unique Design Challenges Require Unique Pathway Solutions

Data Center operators need to consider robustness of seals against leakage of conditioned air, physical security, and increase cable count and density within their cable pathway. EZ-Path® Fire-rated Pathways meet these challenges providing field and laboratory tested configurations protecting occupants and assets in the event of fire as well as during day to day Data Center operation without impacting Technicians work.

  • Modular floor grid systems that scale with your vertical pathway needs
  • Single device plates, high-density, horizontal and vertical ganging options designed to partner with you horizontal pathway needs and cable capacity
  • Solutions for new and existing construction
  • EZ Path takes care of itself with its built-in self sealing mechanism that adjusts automatically as cables are added, changed, or removed while maintaining all ratings
  • High-density brackets can support up to 12 of our Series 44+ Devices into nominal 1-1/2 square feet of space, eliminating the need to individually bundle and waterfall cables as they pass through fire-rated wall and floor assemblies
  • Offers predictable performance protecting assets while keeping conditioned air where it needs to be and out of compartments that it is not.

Protective Wraps for Electrical Enclosures and Critical Infrastructure

E-Wrap™ Endothermic Wrap is the ideal solution for protecting panel boxes and critical infrastructure such as back up power circuits, fire pumps controls, liquid fuel lines, and signaling circuits. E-Wrap's highly endothermic properties require fewer layers for equivalent protection compared to competing solutions. Requiring less material, less time to install, less physical space, and less reinforcement of protected pathways and infrastructure.

  • Tested to ASTM E1725 providing circuit integrity for a range of electrical pathway types including Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT), Rigid Metallic Conduits (RMC), and cable trays.
  • Tested to UL1489 for protection of liquid fuel oil lines feeding generators and other emergency service
  • Tested to ASTM E814(UL1479) for protection of electrical panel boxes and enclosures
  • Fewer layers required for achieving protection compared to competing wraps

Interior Joint Solutions without Waste or VOCs

Track Top Gasket (TTG) is a patented thin profile intumescent gasket that replaces traditional firestop sealant and sprays at interior building joints. TTG installs over wall framing tracks, runners and studs providing fire, smoke and acoustical ratings for head of wall joints, wall to wall joints, bottom of wall joints in gypsum board walls.

  • TTG installs as the wall is being erected eliminating the need for ladders and lifts to apply firestop products after gypsum board layers are applied.
  • TTG is not susceptible to cracking, sagging, or dripping and has no cure process eliminating the release of VOCs on the jobsite.
  • Accommodates for 100% movement of interior joints without sacrificing fire, smoke, or acoustical performance
  • With no cure process, application during wall construction, and no need to firestop after the fact, TTG’s rate of application exceeds all traditional firestopping methods.

The EZ-Path® Family of Cable Pathway Solutions

EZ Path® Fire-Rated Pathways are the only self-sealing fire and smoke devices that are exempt from maintenance requirements. EZ Path® Pathways have no moving parts and require no action to activate the internal sealing mechanism, making them the only rated firestop device that are compliant right out of the box.

Resilient MEP Solutions

SpecSeal LCI Sealant is a gun grade sealant tested for use around electrical conduits, metallic and non-metallic piping, HVAC ductwork, busways, as well as high efficiency insulation. LCI easily works into tightly spaces such as between grouped conduits and electrical wiring. Forming a robust seal against the passage of smoke and flame during a fire event as well as containing conditioned air during everyday operation. SpecSeal LCI combines with SpecSeal Wrap Strips to extend its utility to seal large diameter plastic piping systems or thick insulations.

  • Tested with Vented PVC Condensate Piping as well as AB/PVC, Fiberglass, Mineral fiber, Cellular Glass, Polyisocyanurate, and Polyethylene pipe and duct insulations
  • Tested with a range of plastic pipe types including PVC, CPVC, HDPE, FRP, FRPP, XFR, and others
  • Tested with common electrical penetrations including Metallic and Non-metallic conduits, cable trays, busways, armored and non-metallic sheathed wiring
  • Water based fore easy application, cleanup, and disposal

Fast Installing Busway Solutions

SpecSeal SBR Firestop Blocks are a fast installing solution for addressing Busways penetrations acting as a permanent seal against fire, smoke, and conditioned air while accommodating future infrastructure work. SpecSeal Blocks easily compress and conform around busway casings and conduit fittings, stacking in place while forming a professional fit and finish.

  • Reinstallable for easy retrofitting of various pipes, cables, and innerducts
  • Lightweight for ease of installation
  • May be cut to size
  • No special tools required
  • Superior air leakage ratings
  • No cure time -> fast application
  • Dust-free, fiber-free, halogen-free, and solvent-free
Ease Of Use

Each EZ Path® Device incorporates a self-sealing mechanism that takes the guess work out of maintaining fire, smoke, and air leakage seals. Unlike other solutions, only EZ Path takes care of itself adjusting automatically as cables are added, changed, or removed while maintaining all ratings with cable fills ranging from 0 up to 100% visual fill making each device maintenance free

Energy And Cost Savings

The built-in sealing mechanism of each EZ Path forms a robust seal against the passage of fire, smoke, and air. Reducing air flow and minimizing the loss of conditioned air from the server floor into neighboring compartments.

Customizable

When it comes to data centers, there are no one-size-fits all solutions. The modular nature of EZ Path allows us to create custom retaining brackets to meet any site conditions. Let our engineering team develop custom mounting hardware for your next project that meets your design’s demands without compromising fire, smoke, and air leakage performance.

Protecting Critical Infrastructure

Operation of critical circuits in the event of a fire is paramount to ensure operation when these services are needed most. E Wrap™ Endothermic Wrap is the ideal solution for protecting critical infrastructure such as backup generator fuel lines, fire pumps and signaling circuits.

Digital Tools

Maintaining compliance of fire life safety systems in the Data Center is critical to ensure protection of assets and staff alike in a disaster scenario.
