At STI, we understand the nuances of firestopping head-of-wall joints and other joint systems installed into or between wall systems. We offer flexible joint sealants and sprays or gasket materials that allow for dynamic movement. All of our systems are fully tested according to ANSI/UL2079, ASTM E1966, ASTM E1399, ULC-S115, and other relevant standards relating to movement and fire testing of joint systems.
Our SpecSeal® AS200 Elastomeric Spray has been the benchmark standard for top-of-wall sprays for more than 15 years. The easy to spray formula and high-bridging capabilities of AS200 won’t soak into mineral wool and it stays put and won’t run down the wall.
STI’s SpecSeal® AS200 Elastomeric Spray and ES Elastomeric Sealant are formulated to be completely compatible. This is advantageous for situations where a sealant may be preferable to spray and transitions occur such as finished joints or exposed areas. Additionally, touch up work can be performed using a caulk gun.
Systems have been developed for a wide range of movement. Whether for wind-load, thermal, or seismic, STI has solutions that work. Our patented SpeedFlex® Joint Profile can be used to provide 100% unencumbered movement with AS200 Elastomeric Spray. Our patented Track Top Gasket (TTG) systems will also allow for 100% movement without the need to caulk or spray the head-of-wall joint, a major advantage on new construction projects.
While some construction projects advocate a “no fly zone” to avoid penetrants being routed through head-of-wall joints and thereby complicating the process of firestopping or encumbering the movement capabilities of the joint system, STI has tested a variety of metal or plastic penetrants in the flute valleys.
AS200 is tested for compatibility with CPVC pipe, a common type of sprinkler pipe. Whether sprinkler pipes penetrate the head-of-wall joint or overspray is a consideration, AS200 is included as part of the Lubrizol’s FBC™ System Compatible program for CPVC pipe. In fact, it is the only spray on the market that is part of this program!
SpecSeal® ES Sealant is a latex-based gun grade elastomeric firestop sealant designed for construction joint applications. Once cured, ES Sealant forms a flexible shield against the passage fire and smoke. In dynamic joint conditions, ES Sealant is tested to accommodate up to 25% compression/extension of the installed joint width.
SpecSeal® AS200 Elastomeric Spray is a latex-based elastomeric firestop spray for construction joints and perimeter fire barrier applications. AS200 cures to form a durable seal that resists the passage of the products of combustion while accommodating for high dynamic joint movement.
SpeedFlex® TTG Track Top Gasket makes short work of construction joints in gypsum board construction. TTG eliminates the need for firestop sealants or sprays by firestopping as the wall is constructed. Track Top Gasket is easily cut to length with scissors or a sharp knife, installing quick with no waste.
SpeedFlex® Joint Profile combines with SpecSeal® spray-applied coatings to provide unsurpassed joint movement capabilities in gypsum board construction. SpeedFlex® Joint Profile replaces traditional forming materials allowing for reduced application times and increased productivity.
