STI is a solution-driven company and is up to any healthcare facility challenge. We understand the challenges you face in the healthcare physical environment and we can be your strategic partner in providing cost effective, sustainable solutions.
STI has been committed to firestopping in healthcare from our inception and we continue to focus on critical life safety issues surrounding new construction, maintenance, and remediation of healthcare facilities. We provide ongoing support of healthcare industry priorities related to firestopping, such as patient privacy, infection control, and ongoing code compliance. STI can help you manage compliance while navigating the complexity of healthcare construction and the demands of maintaining rated barriers around the perpetually evolving floor, wall, and ceiling penetrations that result from equipment expansions and technology upgrades.
STI understands the challenges you face in the healthcare physical environment and we can be your strategic partner, adding value throughout the design and construction process and by acting as consultants to coordinate all aspects of firestop selection and installation. STI is there to support you by working with your design team and inside of the contractor job trailer, providing on-site specification and design support, delivering in-depth training, and offering oversight in the field to ensure proper installation of firestop materials.
For projects in an existing facility, we help by recommending proactive barrier management solutions and protocol and by coordinating firestop installations, whether by staff or subcontractors. We also consistently train installers, sharing our firestop expertise to benefit your organization.
Cabling moves, additions, and changes (MACs) are commonplace, particularly in healthcare. Some firestop products, such as non-hardening putties, are actually designed to facilitate cable MACs. Sadly, as putty is removed, it can sometimes not be replaced or cables can be gradually added to existing sleeves to the point where firestop materials are displaced. The EZ-Path® Retrofit Device is an easy to install system to retrofit existing overfilled sleeves. The two-piece split design installs around the cable bundle and locks onto the extended sleeve. It can even accommodate an existing bushing. It provides instant code compliance.
The STI Barrier Management Protocol was created by leading healthcare professionals with diverse backgrounds and a wealth of industry experience. STI has invested heavily to assure our SOP is 100% relevant for development of firestop specification documents for all types of healthcare facilities. This specification accompanies every bid document so that contractors understand, well in advance, the standards by which your organization operates and how they will be held accountable for their work.
STI’s barrier management programs can help ensure your facility is code compliant and stays compliant while navigating the complexities of healthcare construction, maintenance, and remediation. We can provide your organization with a tool that helps you manage fire barriers by defining the firestop specifications for your entire facility. Our SOP establishes guidelines that specifically define what both internal and outside contractors must do to control compliance when making and sealing barrier penetrations.
The EZ-Path® Series 44+ Fire-Rated Pathway is designed for high cable volume conditions through fire-rated walls and floors while eliminating the burden of ongoing maintenance. The Series 44+ incorporates self-sealing intumescent pads that automatically adjust to the installed cable fill without the need for user manipulation. Under fire exposure, the intumescent pads expand and swell resisting the passage of smoke and flame.
The EZ-Path® Series 33 Fire-Rated Pathway is a maintenance-free pathway solution for moderate cable volumes through fire-rated walls and floors. The Series 33 incorporates built-in intumescent pads that automatically adjust to cable fills. When exposed to flame and high temperatures, the intumescent pads expand to form a dense insulative char that prevent the passage of smoke and flame.
Overfilled cable sleeves are the bane of every facilities team, bring these deficient openings back into code compliance with the EZ-Path® Retrofit Device. Its two-part clam shell design installs around projecting sleeves and cable bundles restoring fire and smoke leakage performance. The EZ-Path® Retrofit Device quickly and easily retrofits sleeves of up to 100% visual fill restoring fire performance without the need for additional firestop products.
EZ-Firestop® Grommets make sealing penetrations of individual and small bundles of cables through gypsum board walls a snap. Molded from premium plenum-plastics and incorporating a soft foam inner core, EZ-Firestop® Grommets eliminate the need for sleeves, firestop putties & sealants.
SpecSeal® SSS Firestop Sealant is a premium grade water-based Intumescent firestop sealant. SpecSeal® SSS Sealant incorporates our proprietary two-stage intumescent technology making it the go to choice for any combustible or non-combustible penetrants. As little as a 1/2″ applied depth of SSS Sealant is required to provide up to a 4 Hr Fire resistance rating when tested to ASTM E814/UL 1479.
SpecSeal® SSP Firestop Putty excels at sealing cabling penetrations and outlet boxes. SSP Putty is non-hardening and easily hand works around grouped cabling penetrations forming a re-enterable seal allowing for future work. When applied with outlet boxes, SSP Putty easily works into voids and seams forming a continuous seal against fire and the products of combustion.
SpecSeal® SSC Firestop Collars are factory-manufactured firestop devices sized to plastic pipes of up to 6 in. Trade Size. SSC Collars consist of a restraining collar with a factory applied intumescent ensuring the correct amount of material is applied every time. Under fire exposure, SSC Collars quickly expand and collapse combustible piping forming a dense char, resisting the passage of smoke and flame.
Designed for easy installation in non-rated floors and walls, these pathways have been tested and approved cable capacities ranging from 0 to 100% visual fill. In these installations, the device does not require mechanical attachment to either the wall or the wall framing and may be installed after the wallboard has been installed. With it’s split body design, the device can be easily disassembled and installed around previously installed cables in existing construction.
EZ-Path® Smoke & Acoustical Pathway with ceiling kit is a pathway device designed to allow cables to penetrate non-rated ceilings without the need for smoke sealing. This device features a built-in smoke sealing system that automatically adjusts to the amount of cables installed. Once installed in a ceiling, cables can be easily added or removed at any time without the need to remove or reinstall caulking materials.
