Prepare for the Future...
Cable Changes are a Snap With SSP Putty!

Looking for Ease of Installation, Versatility, and Easy Retrofit for Small Cable Penetrations? When firestopping cables that require retrofitting, SpecSeal® SSP Putty is the product of choice. Available as a 36 cubic inch bar, SSP Putty is the perfect choice for new construction or maintenance applications.

Versatile: SSP Putty is perfect for metallic conduits, telephone, data or electrical power cable penetrations. A variety of sleeved and non-sleeved applications have been tested and proven providing the ultimate in installation versatility. Non-hardening and reusable, SSP Putty addresses the need for flexibility in "high traffic" data and communication penetrations. Excellent water resistance and tenacious adhesion provide a firestop system that's ready to go as soon as you install it. No drying or curing is required.

Easy To Use: SSP Putty requires no tools. Simply pull off a piece and pack it into the opening. SpecSeal SSP Putty is soft and pliable, even at low temperatures! To reduce waste SSP Putty bars are packed in tough, resealable containers that are equally at home in the mechanic's truck or tool box.

Fully Tested: SSP Putty is UL® Classified for common firestop applications up to and including 3 hours. Fully tested to the requirements of ASTM E814 and to the time/temperature requirements of ASTM E119, SpecSeal SSP Putty is a unique combination of safety, economy and convenience.

Convenient Fire Protection For Through-Penetrations & Electrical Wall Boxes.

SSP Putty Pads permit reduced spacing as well as an increase in allowable box sizes! When are they used? Our putty pads are used in conjunction with metallic electrical boxes under the following conditions:

  • Where the aggregate area of the boxes will exceed 100 sq. in. per 100 sq. ft. of wall. This restriction can be of particular importance in construction where the required concentrations of building services are very heavy (hospital rooms). High ceilings also can reduce the allowable amount of building services by decreasing the length of the wall required to hit the 100 sq. ft. total.
  • Where the horizontal spacing of the boxes must be less than the required 24 inches. This is a particular problem in back-to-back installations such as adjoining kitchens or bathrooms located on common rated walls.
  • In staggered-stud walls (See Fig. 3 above) where stud cavities are not isolated and physical separation of boxes is impractical.
  • Where the required box must be larger than the permitted 16 sq. in. Present testing includes boxes up to 22 sq. in. (4-11/16" square boxes).
  • Where tested and proven acoustical properties are required in a fire-rated wall.

No Other Product is as Easy & Versatile to Use and has Tested and Proven Fire Resistance and Acoustical Properties.
